Be a good neighbor
- Use an accurate identity, ZIP code, and neighborhood.
- Describe every item honestly, including condition, quantity, production date when relevant, and known allergens.
- Communicate respectfully. Harassment, discrimination, threats, pressure, and retaliation are not allowed.
- Keep exact pickup addresses private until both neighbors agree to exchange. Meet in a public place when practical.
Only list lawful harvests
You are responsible for confirming that an item may legally be sold, traded, or given away and for obtaining any registration, certification, license, label, or inspection required for that item. Backyard Harvest does not approve or inspect food.
Resolve exchanges fairly
- Agree on price, trade, quantity, condition, and pickup before meeting.
- Inspect food before accepting it and disclose concerns promptly.
- Use reviews truthfully—not to threaten or retaliate.
- Never send advance payment to an unknown person or share financial passwords or verification codes.
Reporting and moderation
Use the Report option when a listing, post, comment, or member appears unsafe or violates these standards. Do not use reporting to settle personal disagreements.
Backyard Harvest may remove content, pause listings, or suspend an account while a concern is reviewed. Serious moderation actions require an internal reason and are recorded in the owner dashboard. Affected members receive a notice and may contact the site owner through the beta-feedback tool to request review.
